Transportation to Airport from Belize City City Center
Philip S. W. Goldson Intl. Airport
The distance between Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport, the single biggest airport of Belize, which is located in a geography remaining from the Maya Civilization in Central America, and the city center of Belize City is approximately 15 kilometers. You can go to the airport from the city center by taking a taxi or airport shuttle, renting a car or making use of economical bus transfers.
Taxi
Even though Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport is close to the city center, there is no public transportation network connecting the spots to each other. Since you cannot reach the airport by public buses, which are taken actively by the people in the city, the most preferred vehicles are usually taxis. There are taxis waiting in front of the bus terminals in the city center. You can also stop a taxi by the road. Taxis charge approximately 25 American Dollars for transfer to the airport. If you are going to travel alone, you can talk about sharing a taxi with a passenger before taking a taxi, which can enable you to pay less as the fare.
Bus
If you find the taxi fare high and look for more economical transportation alternatives, there are also buses connecting the city center to the airport, although no direct buses are available. When you take a bus going towards Orange Walk or Corozal from the terminal in the city center and tell the driver that you want to get off somewhere near the airport in Ladyville, the driver will drop you at a junction turning towards the airport. The distance between the airport and where you get off is about 2.5 kilometers; you can either walk or take a taxi. Do not forget to bargain if the taxi driver asks for a fare higher than 10 American Dollars.
Airport Shuttle
One of the types of transportation mostly preferred for safety and comfort in Belize is the private airport shuttles which are a little more costly than other options. You can choose the shuttles, which offer plus services such as free internet and air conditioner, among the referenced companies on the Internet, and get a reservation made for them. Alternatively, you can get information by asking the reception desk of your hotel whether they provide a shuttle free of charge. No matter if the shuttles come for a group or just for you, they pick you up from wherever you are and take you to the airport within about 30 minutes.
Car Rental
If you would like to go to the airport from the city center by renting a car, regardless of the short distance, please remember that roads of Belize are neglected; they are without asphalt and covered with dust in some regions. You can find foreign or local agencies on the Internet, and rent a car depending on its luggage-passenger capacity. Your hotel can also refer to a company regarding this issue.
Airport Information
Being the seventh biggest airport of Central America and the single biggest airport of Belize, Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport is named after a famous politician of the country, who died in 2001. You can reach the airport, which is located approximately 15 kilometers far from Belize City in Ladyville, in 30 minutes with a car.
The altitude of the airport is 5 meters higher than the city, and it is the busiest region of this small Central American country. According to the data of 2017, the number of passengers who passed through the airport is about one million, together with 5,179 international and 25,690 domestic flights. From the airport, you can fly to several states of the United States of America and countries such as El Salvador and Panama. There are no direct flights to Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport yet. The airport is used for landing by the planes of international airline companies like US Airways, American Airlines, United Airlines, Delta Airlines, Avianca, Copa Airlines, and TACA. The runway of this fully equipped airport, which opened in 1990, is 9,700 meters in length, and in addition to the international flights, there are domestic flights to several destinations via Tropic Air and Maya Island Air.
Transportation to Venice City Center from Airport
Venice Marco Polo Airport
Venice has two airports, "Marco Polo" and "Treviso", but a significant number of international flights, including flights from Istanbul, are landing at Marco Polo Airport.
From the airport to the city center you have many options such as train, bus, taxi, vaporetto, car rental and water taxi.
Bus
There are two options for transportation from the airport to the city: "ACTV" buses operated by municipality or privately operated "ATVO" buses.
ACTV buses operate from 4 am to midnight every day of the week, between Rome Square and the airport. The journey lasts 25 minutes. Tickets can be picked up from the vending machines at the airport terminals. ATVO buses also work on the same line as ACTV. The bus departing from the airport operated between 7.50 am and 11.50 pm. The duration of the journey is almost the same as ACTV. If you will be staying somewhere outside Venice city center, like Mestre, you can use other routes of ATVO and ACTV.
Vaporetto
It is very enjoyable to get to the Venetian islands from the airport with the small sea buses, which are called "Vaporetto", run by the company "Alilunga" because you will start living the Venetian atmosphere as soon as you enter the city. There are 3 separate lines - red, orange and blue; which one to choose depends on your destination. Therefore, it is advised for you to consult your hotel about which line to choose and which stop to get off before you arrival. The journey with these would not be very short. It depends on your destination, but it lasts more than 1 hour. You can get tickets from your arrival terminal. You can reach the pier of boats after a 10-minute walk from the terminal exit.
Train
While the most convenient way to get to the city center of Venice is by bus and vaporetto, you still have the option to take a train. You only need to take a taxi or bus to get to the main railway stations from the airport. With the buses from the airport you can go to the Mestre station in 20-25 minutes and to Santa Lucia station in 35 minutes. Then you can reach the different points of the city by train. It is not a practical and preferred method as you need to change two vehicles with this way.
Taxi
There is a taxi company named "Radio Taxi" at the airport. You can make reservations in advance or take a taxi to the city center or other area upon your arrival. Taxi fare would be around 40 euros to Rome Square, and 35 euros to the center of Mestre from the airport.
Car Rental
You can rent a car from the lower floor of the arrival terminals. Here you can find a total of eight company offices such as Avis, Europcar, Autovia, Autoeuropa, Maggiore, Sixt, Lacauto and Hertz. If you will only be visiting Venice city center, renting a car is not a recommended option, because you cannot take your car to the city center, where you can travel with boats or by foot. If you rent a car from the airport, you need to park it in the parking lot at the Rome Square.
Water Taxi
The water taxi, which is the most elegant and most expensive way of going to the center of Venice from the airport via the canal, is another alternative. When you book in advance, it can be a bit cheaper, but the average prices vary between 80 and 125 euros depending on where you are going.
