Czestochowa is located in the south of Poland. The city, which was the capital city of the province of Czestochowa between 1975 and 1998, joined the boundaries of Silesia after the administrative reform in 1999. Czestochowa, on the Krakow-Czestochowa Plateau and the Warta River, has a population of about 232,000 people according to 2014 data.

According to the legend, this city was founded by a person named Częstoch.
