Esbjerg is a seaport town located in the south of Denmark and the largest city on the Jutland Peninsula. Fishing has been the most important source of living of the city for centuries.

Oceanic climate is effective in Esbjerg. The temperature in the summer months is measured around 16 degrees. In the winter months, this value can fall to zero. There is never too much rainfall, but all seasons of the year the city receives rain.

Although the railway station in the city center was first operated to connect the city to Fredericia and Varde cities in 1868, today it is possible to reach every part of Denmark from Esbjerg by train. Esbjerg is a highly developed city that has a lot of alternatives in terms of transportation. As well as having its own airport, it is also possible to travel from Esbjerg to Billund Airport, which is the largest airport of Denmark. This travel only lasts one hour and from this airport passengers can travel to longer distances. In the same way, it is possible to reach many different points by ferry. For urban transportation, the city center can be easily traveled by walking. But the city also has a bus network with which you can easily travel.

The two long streets which are closed to traffic in the city center are accepted as the centers of shopping. These streets are full of various stores, shops, restaurants and cafes for those who want to take a break and enjoy the atmosphere. When making your plan for shopping, keep in mind that stores close around 06:00 pm on weekdays and 14:00 pm on Saturdays, and almost no stores open on Sundays.

In this city where fishing is important, you should definitely taste seafood. Various marine animals cooked with different cooking techniques should be definitely tasted and each dish is very fresh. In addition, the Fisheries and Maritime Museum can show you how important fishing and sailing is for the people of the city. In the museum having a very comprehensive and detailed presentation, many subjects such as fishing, sea, water biology and navigation are addressed. One of the most famous statues you can see in the city is the Men at Sea, which is also about the sea.

The Esbjerg Water Tower, one of the architectural symbols of the city, Our Saviour Church built in 1887, and St. Nicholas Church, one of the most interesting examples of modern architecture are among the most important places to be visited in the city.

The world-famous Legoland is not actually in Esbjerg, but it is very close to the city. It is located in Billund and can be reached after one hour travel. If you have enough time, you should visit Legoland by adding this place to your list.
